We had the great honour to meet Professor David Warhurst in 1999 at the LSHTM, back then we did not imagine the role this amazing man would play in our lives.  We have been privileged  to know not only the remarkable scientist but the noble, generous and loving man. David introduced us 20 years ago and with that simple action started the foundation of our family. More than a friend we considered him one member of our family; he shared with us every milestone; our marriage, the birth of our children, professional achievements and more. 
We will never forget his guidance academically and personally. Professor Warhurst had this very generous personality, humility and warmth that embraced all of his students especially the foreign ones. He made us feel at home, away from home. He never hesitated to step in and help his friends and students. We will never forget his infectious and special smile and his calmness even at adversity. Professor Warhurst, we are blessed to have come to know you and have you in our lives. Thank you so much for all what you’ve done for us and for everybody that came to know you.
